The continuous evolution of technology was evident with the invention of the tablet computer. When a new communications method emerges, the old way frequently has to make major changes to survive. This was no more apparent than with the invention of the tablet.
Tablet computers (also known simply as tablets) had actually been invented in the 1980s, long before the launch of the Apple iPad in 2010. However, desktop computers and other technologies being the dominant high tech device at the time caused both marketing and production of tablets to be very low. The whole idea of the tablet itself gained popularity and became more prevalent in the 2000s following the success of the Apple iPad.
